Payne, E.F. – Model 201

For your consideration is a Payne model 201 bamboo fly rod. This is an 8' 0" three-piece for a 5-weight weighing 3.90 oz. All sections are full-length and straight.



This rod features medium-tempered cane with Payne dark brown wraps tipped yellow with oxidized guides and an agate stripping guide. Payne-style grip measures 5 1/2" in length with cap and ring over a walnut spacer. Ferrules are size 15 and 10 with a perfect fit. In my hand, the action is on the medium side of medium-fast and buttery smooth. Masterfully refinished by Steve Blake.
