One of Six rods labeled "J.A. Bradford | M.D. Clark Makers."
Passing through the skillful hands of three great rod makers, for your consideration is a John Bradford and Mike Clark bamboo fly rod. This is an 8' 0" 2/2 5wt weighing 4.75 oz. John Bradford made the blank in Walton Powell's shop and Mike Clark finished it out. One of Six rods labeled "J.A. Bradford | M.D. Clark Makers." See letter of provenance for more details. All sections are full length and straight.
This rod consists of mildly tempered cane with brown-auburn wraps and an agate stripping guide. Cigar grip measures 6 1/4" in length. Classic cap and ring over a beautifully figured wood spacer. Super Z style ferrule is a size 14 with a perfect fit. Numbered tips for ease of rotation. The action is on the fast side of medium-fast. This is a strong 5wt possibly capable of handling a 6 wt line too. Includes the original bag and labeled tube. The rod is in excellent condition with the exception of some loss to the antiquing of the butt cap and minor soiling of the grip.
You rarely see rods by John Bradford or Mike Clark of South Creek Lmt. available on the market. Mike currently has a wait of 3 1/2 to 4 years. Here's a chance to own a collaboration of the two at a price much lower than their rods sell individually.
