The simple click and pawl can be easily converted to use as either right or left-hand wind – currently set for LHW. Nice serpentine-shaped handle attaching directly to the spool flange with a nickel silver counterbalance. Both front and back plates are free of scratches with the rims showing signs of use having a few surface scratches. Comes with original soft leather reel pouch and Walt Carpenter's business card with his notes written on it.
Walt Carpenter cut his teeth in rod building at the E.F. Payne Rod Company. His "Browntone" models are made with the same enthusiasm and integrity as the creations of his predecessors, making him a true ambassador of the "Hudson Valley" or "Catskill" school of rod makers. His rods indeed trace their lineage to the works of Fred Thomas, Eustis Edwards and Jim Payne.
