Moran, Tom – 6' 6" Traun

  • For your consideration is a rare Tom Moran Traun model in original condition. This is a 6' 6" two-piece for a 5 or 6-weight line weighing 3.25 oz. The Traun is designed for dry fly fishing in Austria and ideal for short casts and drifts through pocket water. Tom Moran built rods under his own name in the early 2000s before he began building for Hardy in 2010 until his death in 2014.

This rod consists of medium tempered cane with transparent wraps. It is completed with Tom's minimalist aesthetic – a few turns with both red and green silk at the hook keeper completed with transparent wraps securing it. Grip measures 5 1/2" in length. Nickel silver sliding band and cap over a walnut spacer. Size 15 ferrule. In my hand, the action is on the fast side of medium fast bending beneath the stripping guide. I was pleasantly surprised by the action on this short rod as I expected it to be much tighter. Includes the original bag and tube.
