Orvis, C.F. - Battenkill, 7' 0" 5 wt.

For your consideration is an Orvis Battenkill bamboo fly rod built in December of 1961. This is a 7' 0" two-piece for a 5-weight line weighing 3.40 oz. Marked for an HDG (6) weight line, most prefer Orvis’ rods with one line down from the specified designation. All sections are full-length and straight.

This rod consists of the indicative Orvis impregnated dark cane with red-brown wraps. Grip measures 6" in length and is smooth and mostly clean. Down-locking aluminum hardware over the wood spacer. The ferrule is size 11 with a perfect fit. In my hand, the action is on the fast side of medium fast. Includes the original bag, tube, and paper label which tape was placed over to preserve its integrity. In reviewing the condition of the bluing, the sections, and cork, this rod did not see much time on the water and has been very well cared for.
