Orvis, C.F. - Seven/Four

For your consideration is an Orvis Seven/Four bamboo fly rod. This is a 7' 0" three-piece for a 4 weight weighing 3.55 ounces. Many believe this is arguably the best 7' 0" 4 weight taper.

This rod consists of transparent butterscotch wraps tipped in cinnamon. Nickel silver cap and ring over a well-modeled and shallow mortised wood spacer. Size 13/64 and 9/64 ferrules. Full working. Powerful but delicate. I contacted Orvis to discuss the midsection serial number executed in a different penmanship. They said there was no record of this rod being returned for work and explained that in the 1980s through the end of the 1990s, each rod and each piece was often handled by multiple individuals. Completed February 8, 1993. Includes the original tube, bag, and a leather tube, which appears to be made by the same maker Orvis commissioned for their work.
