South Bend – Model 24

For your consideration is a South Bend model 24 bamboo fly rod in original condition. The 24 is a 9" three-piece for a 7-weight line weighing 5.95 oz. A great bass or larger streamer and pike rod. All sections are full-length and straight. One tip is 1/4" shorter than the other but appears to have been made this way.

This rod consists of medium tempered cane with jasper green wraps. Grip measures 7" in length and shows only minor ridging. Ferrules are size 13 and 19 with a perfect fit. In my hand, the action is on the fast side of medium fast. The extra coating of varnish covering the ferrule wraps on the butt section appears to have possibly dried and was removed. Or, the ferrule was reset and not enough varnish was put on the wraps. You can see varnish on the original wraps but this could use addition coats. Original composite tube and bag.
