Granger, Wright & McGill – 7633 Aristocrat 4wt

For your consideration is an original Wright & McGill Granger Aristocrat 7633 bamboo fly rod. This is a 7' 6" 3/2 4wt weighing 4.25 oz.

Ammonia-treated bamboo produced this rich dark bamboo which is complemented by caramel wraps along with brown tipping. The grip measures 6 3/4 inches with minor ridging at the upper third. The patented nickel silver up-locking reel seat is free of dents and functions smoothly as it should. Swiss-style ferrules are size 9 and 14 with a perfect fit. In my hand, the action is medium-fast. At one point the owner also owned an 8040 and accidentally switched out the bags. In the original bag to this rod, the tips extended about 1 inch outside of the cloth. Now they are entirely protected. One tip was replaced by Mike Clark of South Creek with an original old stock Wright & McGill Granger 7633 tip. This tip is slightly heavier down from the tip-top to the second guide. The tip-top is also one size larger.  This rod has been in the consignors' possession for 25 years and is well taken care of. A wonderful small to medium-sized stream rod.
