Available to you is an H.L. Leonard Model 39H – an early post-fire rod with a pre-fire taper from the Ted Simroe era. Proceeding the fire, the first three batches of blanks were developed with pre-fire tapers. This is a 7' 6" 5wt. (some prefer a 6wt) bamboo rod weighing 4.15 oz. Serial no. 535. All sections are full length and straight.
Leonard indicative straw colored cane with crimson red wraps. Classic cigar grip measuring 6" in length shows very little use. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat with butternut insert under properly die stamped nickel silver cap. Ferrule is size 13 and a perfect fit. The action is on the fast side of medium-fast but feels like it would serve admirably as an all-around rod. Includes original bag with stiffening dowel. Excellent original condition with the exception Steve Blake gave one tip an overcoat of varnish.
