For your consideration is a Ron Kusse Mirror Tips model bamboo fly rod. This is a 7' 0" three-piece for a 4 weight weighing 3.30 ounces. Ron Kusse held the position of Vice President at the Leonard Rod Company for the majority of the 1970s. The rods he built under his name reflected the defining characteristics of Eastern rod building — elegant swelled butts, refined tips, and a crisp, responsive casting feel.
This rod consists of light tempered cane complimented with caramel translucent wraps at the guides and bronze wraps at the ferrules tipped red. The tips are differentiated for ease of rotation with one having one wrap of red and the other two. The 5 1/4" grip meets the reel seat with a wood check. The mortised and beautifully modeled reel seat is fitted with antiqued hardware. In my hand, the rod is on the quick side of medium-fast and would be full flexing if not for the handsome swelled butt. Bag tag reads 3.00 ounces, but on my scale, it is 3.30 ounces. The brass tube is an exclamation mark and period to show the attention to detail and state this is complete.
