Leonard, H.L. – 7'0" 5/6wt. Duracane

For your consideration is a Leonard Duracane "Green Wrap" bamboo fly rod. This is a 7' 0" two-piece for a 5 or 6- weight line weighing 3.75 oz. The owner liked a 5-weight line on this but I can see how some will like a 6-weight.

This consists of impregnated cane with green silks. Classic cigar grip measuring 5 1/2" in length shows very little use. Bright aluminum down-locking aluminum reel seat with butternut insert. The nickel silver pocket band is stamped The / Leonard / Rod / H.L. Leonard Rod Co. / Makers which is indicative of stamps from the 1920s. It is also completed with a rounded butt cap insert which is also seen on earlier rods. The green silks are more "Kelly green" than other Duracanes I have seen which are "forrest green." I do not know if this is custom ordered, refinished (there is no shadowing near the wraps), or someone purchased Duracane blanks and built it this way. The action is on the fast side. Replacement bag.
