Moran, Tom – 6' 6" 4wt

  • For your consideration is a Tom Moran bamboo fly rod. This is a 6' 6" two-piece built for a 4-weight line weighing 2.85 ounces. Serial # 784/5. This rod shows no signs of use. Tom Moran built rods under his own name in the early 2000s before he began building for Hardy in 2010 until his death in 2014.

This rod consists of medium tempered cane with transparent wraps. It is completed with Tom's minimalist aesthetic – a few turns with both red and green silk at the hook keeper completed with transparent wraps securing it. There is a red band at one tip top and black at the other. Spiral node pattern. The ferrule wraps are a reddish brown with black tipping. The ferrules are swiss super Z style and are polished bright. The 5 1/2" grip is shaped to a cigar profile with a cap and ring over a walnut spacer. In my hand this rod is medium-fast bending deep into the butt section. Plush bag and leather wrapped aluminum tube. The tube is a few inches longer than the rod.
