Vardanis, Alex – 36L Baby Catskill

For your consideration is an Alex Vardanis Baby Catskill bamboo fly rod. This is a 6' 0" two-piece for a 1 to 2-weight line weighing 1.55 oz. The tips mic at 0.0465. This was one of Alex's personal rods.

This consists of light tempered cane with amber orange wraps tipped with an ivory cream – a very handsome combination. The grip measures 4 inches with cap and ring over a well modeled insert matching the cane coloring. In my hand, the action is medium-slow and delicate. Comes in a walnut hex case with a leather strap closure with an aluminum and brass tip tube.

Alex has had two strokes. He told me to not feel sorry for him, "Memory therapy helped me remember the names of my childhood friends growing up in Greece!" There is some dust in the varnish. This minor blemish appears in a few of his rods after his first stroke. His tapers continued to be accurate. A nice rod from this London, Ontario builder.
