Edwards – Quadrate Model #50 7' 6"

  • For your consideration is an Edwards Quadrate, Registered Model #50 from the estate of Dr. Paul Hermann, a respected maker of handcrafted bench made reels. A respected Edwards collector told me Registered models were custom ordered. I've also heard Edwards was just experimenting with his naming. Either way, this 7’ 6” 3/2 5wt rod is rare and exceptional. This rod is in original condition.

Dark flame-tempered cane with Burgundy silks and rich golden caramel tipping. The distinguishing script remains bold and in its entirety. Squared tenite winding check blends masterfully with the squared upper part of the half-wells grip which measures 6” in length with only slight ridging. Up-locking reel seat is made entirely of tenite. The butt cap shows normal wear from being stood upright. The blued ferrules are size 11 and 15 with a perfect fit. Tips measure at 0.0775. Medium-fast action. The owner believes at the time of purchasing this from Fred Kretchman, who handled Dr. Paul Hermann's bamboo estate, Fred mentioned he rewrapped one guide. Upon close inspection, we can not determine which one this is. Original bag with a replacement tube.
