Garrison, Everett – Model 212 5wt

  • For your consideration is an Everett Garrison Model 212 bamboo fly rod. This rod is 8' 6", 2/2, 5wt weighing 4.35 oz. Most 212 models were built in an 8' 0" length making this scarce. This was masterfully refinished by Steve Blake. He was able to retain the original writing except for one tip. All sections are full length and straight.

This rod was built in 1946. During wartime and shortly after, I'm told Garrison was known to pull a few butt caps off of Phillipson rods and modify them. This appears to be one of those. This rod is finished with transparent honey wraps with chestnut wraps at the ferrules and keeper. The original cork grip is slightly soiled and has some minor ridging. The ferrule fit is smooth but could use a little cleaning to completely set. The owner of the rod has misplaced the ferrule plug but continues to search for it. In my hand, this rod is medium-fast and glorious to cast. Picking up the line off the water is felt throughout the rod. Replacement cap, original tube, and bag.
