Leonard, H. L. – BiMetal

  • For your consideration is a very scarce H.L. Leonard Bi-Metal fly reel by Julius Vom Hofe. Marked "H.L. Leonard, Pat. No 191813" makes this the third and final version of the classic Leonard Bi-Metal reels. Constructed with a bronze frame, nickel silver foot, handle arm and cross-pillars, and an aluminum spool. Pillar to pillar it measures 2.58". The frame diameter is 2.23". The frame width is 1" with a spool width of 0.75". The oversized hard rubber handle offers a nice contrast to the reel size. Screw-off knurled rear bearing cap. The foot is full length. The riveted click is slightly partial to LHW with it being stronger on outbound, and softer on retrieve in this position. This is a very fishable reel in either LHW or RHW position. Includes an Arne Mason leather clamshell case stamped "H.L. Leonard Bi-Metal." This is a rare and desirable classic Leonard Bi-Metal reel.
