Leonard-Mills – Model 50

For your consideration is a Leonard-Mills Model 50 raised pillar fly reel. This early fixed check reel was made for Mills by Julius vom Hofe. Pillar to pillar the reel measures 3 inches. The rim diameter is 2 5/8 inches. The spool width is 1 1/16”.

It consists of hard rubber side plates with an aluminum raised pillar frame. The cross pillars, screws, rear cap, half-handle, and foot are nickel silver. The reel is in excellent mechanical condition. The nickel silver foot is unmolested. There are no cracks or chips in the hard rubber. There are a few marks but this is surprisingly clean for its age. It is a fixed check reel set for a neutral wind. The reel weighs 4.65 oz. It has no visible stamps on either plate. Appears to hold up to a 5 weight line.
