Lyon & Coulson – Captain #400

For your consideration is a Lyon & Coulson bamboo fly rod in all original condition. This is a 7' 6" 2/2 for a 4 weight line weighing 4.0 ounces. Heddon made rods for Lyon & Coulson from the early 1930s to the late 1940s. All sections are full-length and straight.

This rod consists of medium tempered cane with deep red wraps tipped with bright red and black with a diminutive red agate stripping guide. Down-locking reel seat with 5 1/2" grip. The ferrule is size 13 and could use some cleaning to help it completely set. In my hand, the action is on the fast side of medium-fast with a very decisive dry fly demeanor from the ferrule and above. A great point and shoot taper that is delightful. In original condition.
