Orvis, C.F. – 8' 0" Model 99 6wt.

For your consideration is a C.F. Orvis Model 99 bamboo fly rod from 1960. This is an 8' 0" two-piece for a 6 or 7-weight line weighing 5.30 ounces. All sections are full-length and straight. The 99 was a special addition rod produced from 1955 - 1966 to celebrate Orvis' 99th year.

This rod consists of the Orvis indicative impregnated cane and "99" red wraps. Grip measures 6 1/2" in length and to the touch, only very slight ridging. Down-locking aluminum hardware. Super Z ferrules. In my hand, the action is on the fast side of medium-fast. Based on the shadowing in the blank next to some of the wraps, most, if not all, of the guides have been rewrapped.
