Summers, R.W. – Midge 3/4 wt. 3 Tips

For your consideration is a R.W. Summers Midge bamboo fly rod with three tips. This is a 6' 4" (actual length is 6' 5") two-piece for a 3 or 4-weight line weighing 2.20 ounces. SN 3197. Many feel Bob's work with all cork grips and wood details represent the epitome of understated exceptional beauty in a bamboo fly rod.

This consists of dark flamed cane wrapped with translucent caramel silks matching the color of the cane and then tipped black. The 5 1/2" grip, which appears unused, meets a wood reel seat check and is finished with a wood laminated butt section with exposed bamboo flush at the end. The nickel silver sliding rings makes this a deluxe model. Almost immediately after deliver of this rod in 1997, the owner broke a tip between the second and third guide above the male ferrule. Bob repaired the tip and made a new one. Original bag and tube with ferrule plug tethered to the bag. A like new rod from a builder that is a living legend.
