Vardanis, Alex – 8' 0" 3wt

For your consideration is an Alex Vardanis 8' 0" "modified F.E. Thomas Fairy" bamboo fly rod built with nodeless construction. This is an 8' 0" three-piece for a 3 weight line weighing 3.95 ounces. This feels like it could also handle a 4 weight. The taper is based on a 1911 F.E. Thomas rod.

This consists of straw-colored cane with amber orange wraps tipped with an ivory cream – a very handsome combination. The grip measures 5 1/2 inches with cap and ring over the spacer. In my hand, the action is medium fast. Nice varnish work with a few blemishes. The blank displays some chatter in a few locations. A nice light line rod from this London, Ontario builder.
