Weiler, Art – Garrison 212

For your consideration is an Art Weiler bamboo fly rod with a Garrison 212 taper. This is an 8' 0" 3/2 5wt weighing 4.60 oz. Serial number 907. The original 212 was a two-piece configuration. Art marks the rod as a Garrison 212X to indicate it is his "experiment" converting this taper to a three-piece configuration. He uses the X for all rods he has changed the original configuration on.

Art is well-known for his Garrison reproduction rods. The Garrison action is "progressive" - meaning the rod loads as demand is placed on it. This action can work in close or far as required. This rod consists of mildly tempered cane with transparent wraps. Garrison style cork grip tapering to the spacer of cork and wood flush to one another. Classic cap and ring.  Ferrules are size 13/17 with a perfect fit. The action is on the fast side of medium-fast. Bends deep into the rod. Includes the original bag and labeled tube. This rod has seen very little time on the water.
