Julius vom Hofe – Model 5

For your consideration is a Julius vom Hofe model 5 fly reel. This is a 2" diameter reel with a 1 5/16" frame width weighing 3.45 ounces. Stamped on the rear plate Julius vom Hofe, Maker, N.Y.

This consists of hard rubber side plates and nickel-plated brass rims and other parts. The majority of the nickel-plating remains with most of the wear to the top of the rims when the reel is standing upright. Although made for RHW, the inbound and outbound resistance is so similar it can be used for LHW too. This is a wonderful piece of fly fishing history in great condition with exceptions noted.
