Payne, E.F. – Parabolic 7' 6"

  • For your consideration is a very rare E.F. Payne Parabolic 7' 6" bamboo fly rod. This is a 7' 6" 2/2 4wt. weighing 3.25 oz. All sections are full length and straight.

The 7' 6" Payne Parabolic is the rarest of the three Paraboic models Jim Payne built. This is the light version of the 7' 6" Parabolic model.

This rod features medium tempered cane with chestnut brown wraps and gold tipping with a red agate stripping guide. The 5 3/8" cork grip is moderately soiled with a slight amount of ridging. Classic cap and ring over a walnut seat. The ferrule is size 10 1/2 with a perfect fit. Payne was known to use 1/2 size ferrules at times. In my hand, the action is medium with a delightful dry fly characteristic along with the buttery smooth aura of all Paynes. The rod received new wraps and varnish by Steve Blake. Includes the original bag, tube, and for added clout, the original hangtag.

Payment by check or money order required. If PayPal or credit card is preferred, an additional 3% will be added to the order.
