Thomas, F.E. – 7' 6" Special with Tip Tube

For your consideration is an F.E. Thomas Special bamboo fly rod. This is a 7' 6" three-piece for a 3 or 4-weight weighing 2.95 oz. With the small guides, a silk line would feel and sound wonderful. These shorter F.E. Thomas rods are increasingly becoming difficult to find.

This rod consists of medium-tempered cane with golden amber wraps and intermediates with a diminutive agate stripping guide. Beautiful detail of closing the space between the intermediates above the first guide to the bayonet tip tops. The grip measures 4.75" in length before the cork spacer and nickel silver cap and ring. Size 14 and 9 ferrules with a good fit but could use a little cleaning on the male mid to complete the set. In my hand, the action is medium and full working deep to the grip. Depending upon your casting style and the distance casting, this will handle a 3 or 4-weight modern line. Expertly refinished by Steve Blake.
