For your consideration is a scarce and desirable E.F. Payne Parabolic bamboo fly rod. This is a 7' 1" two-piece for a 3 weight line weighing 3.90 oz. Some might like a 4-weight line and have it load even deeper.
This rod consists of medium tempered cane with brown wraps tipped gold. The all cork grip is smooth. The shouldered butt cap is stamped "Made for Abercrombie & Fitch." In my hand, the action is medium bending deep and is true to the Payne buttery aura when casting – this rod casts its self. This rod was masterfully refinished by Steve Blake applying new wraps and varnish and appears he re-blued the ferrules. Original ferrule plug, tag, bag and tube.
Often I see these 7' 1" Parabolic tapers from the 1960s in original condition and they are priced at $4,500–$5,000. Here's an opportunity to pick one up for considerably less.
